When you travel in one of our motorhomes, ensure that the heating system is working properly Heating is crucial to enjoying the experience. Heating is one of the most popular and reliable devices, ensuring comfort during your trip, keeping the interior warm in winter, and enjoying a hot shower. In this article, we explain How does the system work, common mistakes that can occur and how to fix them, so you can get the most out of this equipment during your travels.
Heating: heat and hot water to ensure indoor comfort
Heating system truma that our motorhomes carry combines two functions in a single device: heating the vehicle interior and heating the waterThis dual function is very practical, especially when traveling in cold climates or when you need hot water for cooking or showering while traveling.
One of the most important aspects of heating truma Its ignition dial light system indicates the system's status and helps diagnose potential errors. If the system doesn't power on properly or experiences a fault, the dial lights will display a series of colors that you can use to identify the problem.

The heater dial has several positions. The circle in the middle marks the “off” position. The two upper positions correspond to hot water, which can be set at 40º or 60º. For its part, the first position down is the heating positionWhile The latter combines heating and hot waterThese two positions are combined with the dial, which regulates the different heating power levels.
That said, here are some of the most common mistakes we might encounter:
- If device is connected and no LED on the roulette lights up: There may not be enough operating voltage, or the power supply may have been interrupted and the device has not automatically restarted when it is restored. In the latter case, we can disconnect and reconnect. If it is due to a power failure, we should check for a blown fuse (and replace it) or if the battery is low, in which case we will need to reconnect to the mains to restore sufficient voltage. Low battery voltage can also be indicated by the yellow LED flashing once or twice.
- Yellow LED flashes 3 timesSome models have a window over the heating chimney. If it's left open, the system won't work. To resolve the problem, simply close the window.
- Yellow LED flashes 4 timesThis could be due to several factors, either a lack of water in the tank or blocked air vents. The solutions are to refill the tank with water, in the former case, and check the air vents to unblock them.
- Yellow LED flashes 5 times: This means the temperature probe or cable is defective. In this case, there's no immediate solution; the only solution is to replace the part.
- Yellow LED flashes 9 times: This could be because the gas supply shut-off valve is closed (it would just need to be opened) or because the cylinder is out of gas, so we would have to replace it with a full one.
- Red LED flashes 1 to 8 times: These are more serious faults that require technical assistance.
Understanding these error codes will allow you to act quickly and safely. Remember that, if you have any questions, the specialized technical assistance is always the safest option, especially in failures related to gas or critical electrical components.
Furthermore, to ensure proper system operation and prolong its lifespan, periodic maintenance is essential. This maintenance is performed on our vehicles regularly and every time they are delivered to a new customer.
