El autumn it is probably, one of the best seasons of the year for a motorhome trip. After the summer crowds and with milder temperatures, it is time to enjoy some of the natural landscapes most spectacular in our country.
That moment when the leaves of the trees begin to lose their green color to make way for the yellow and reddish tones is unique, and walking through these places is a real pleasure for the senses. If to this we add that the time of collection of mushrooms and nuts, the experience can be even more enriching.
These are our 5 proposals to experience autumn in a motorhome at its best.
1. Bosque de las Hayas - Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park - Huesca
UNESCO World Heritage and Biosphere Reserve, the National Park of Ordesa and Monte Perdido, located in the province of Huesca, offers a huge natural spectacle in any season of the year, although some of its areas are especially beautiful in the autumn season, as is the case of the Beech forest.
To get to this forest, we will have to take a walk (of medium difficulty) from the Pradera de Ordesa (where we can park the motorhome at any time of the year –except in the summer months and at Easter–). The walk is very worthwhile, since it allows us to contemplate the wonderful Ordesa Valley and reach the multicolored scenery of the beech forest.
If you are going to stay in the area for a few days, you can enjoy the autumn colors by taking routes through the Bujaruelo and Pineta Valley. It's going to cost you to choose a path!
To spend the night, you can choose one of the campsites in the area, such as Camping Oto or Camping Boltana. You also have about a area for motorhomes, the Bujaruelo Refuge Area, although the access is a bit more complicated, especially in the case of large motorhomes (more than 7.50 meters).
2. Hayedo de Tejera Negra - Sierra Norte de Guadalajara Natural Park
At Natural Park of the Sierra Norte de Guadalajara find the southernmost beech forest in Europe, Tejera Negra. Of enormous attraction for its ocher and red colors, walks through this environment will make us discover a landscape full of moss, wild pines, yew trees, holly, birch and mushrooms, as well as beech trees. In 2017 it was declared Heritage of humanity by unesco.
If you choose to visit it, you should know that access is limited and that it is necessary to reserve a parking space throughout the year through the web: https://hayedotejeranegra.castillalamancha.es/ventaenlinea/indexHTN.html
Very close to the park, you have a campsite, Los Bonales, in Cantalojas, where you can camp in the middle of nature.
3. Irati Forest - Navarra
La Irati Forest is second largest and best preserved beech-fir forest in Europe, after the Black Forest of Germany. It is a true treasure of nature where you can enjoy a walk and contemplate the most varied landscapes, from deep forests to reservoirs, passing through waterfalls, meadows, mountains and mountains.
If you are lovers of mycology, you can also request a special permission to collect some of the varieties of mushrooms that occur in this area, such as chanterelles, boletus, perretxikos or thistle mushrooms.
As in the rest of the Natural Parks, staying overnight is prohibited indoors, so you must opt for a campsite, such as the Dare.
4. Laguna Negra - Laguna Negra Natural Park and Circos Glaciares de Urbión - Soria
The province of Soria, in general, is spectacular when autumn arrives, but we especially recommend a visit to the Black Lagoon, one of the most beautiful places in the area. Be part of Laguna Negra Natural Park and Circos Glaciares de Urbión and it is located at 1.800 meters of altitude.
Wrapped in vegetation, especially pines and beech trees, it invites you to enjoy the reflection of the reddish and magical colors that autumn gives us in this area. The Black Lagoon is also one of the accesses to reach the Picos de Urbión, where the Duero River is born.
To access it, the closest town is Vinuesa, from where you access the first access parking to the Laguna. Depending on the weather conditions and the influx of visitors, access may be restricted. In this case, you should leave your car at the barrier of the “Paso la Serna” car park and from there, go up 2 km on foot or by bus (summer and holidays).
To spend the night, less than 20 kilometers there is a motorhome area, in Duruelo de la Sierra.
5. Hayedo de Otzarreta - Gorbeia Natural Park - Vizcaya
And we end our tour of these wonderful autumn landscapes with another magical place: the Beech forest of Otzarreta, in the Gorbeia Natural Park, in its Biscayan side. The peculiar formation that the centuries-old beech trees recreate and the meandering riverbed that runs through it (Zubizabala), make the Hayedo de Otzarreta an incredible visual spectacle.
In addition, surrounding it, we find other spaces of great natural interest, such as Saldropo, a wetland of about 3 hectares of extension, which constitutes one of the most attractive leisure spaces in the area.
To spend the night, just over 8 km, in the nearby town of zeanuri, you have a space for motorhomes.
Looking at the images, haven't they made you want to take the motorhome and start touring all these places? And, as we always remind you, if you still do not have a vehicle of this type, we invite you to visit our section "Motorhome rental" so that you can live this adventure. Attentive to the specific offers that we are getting!
